Look at the system, not just the symptom

An unevenly heated home can have several causes. We assess the affected radiators, valves and controls before recommending repairs, balancing, cleaning or replacement. A new radiator alone is not always the answer.

For replacements or new rooms, we discuss dimensions, heat requirements and pipework. If you are supplying your own radiators, send the specifications before the visit so we can allow for brackets, valves and any alterations.

Start with your needs

What would make your heating work better?

01

A room that never feels warm

Radiator output, water circulation, controls and the room’s heat loss can all affect comfort. Describe which rooms are affected and whether the issue changes when the rest of the heating is on.

02

Leaking or sticking radiator valves

A valve problem may affect temperature control or cause a visible leak. Tell us whether it is a thermostatic valve, a lockshield valve or an unknown type; access and pipework condition affect the work.

03

Renovating or adding a radiator

The size, output, mounting surface and connection positions all matter. If you are changing a room’s layout, agree the radiator location and pipework route before the finishes are completed.

A clear scope

Know what you’re arranging.

Heating repairs and upgrades are specified around the existing system. We explain whether the proposed work involves draining, altering pipework or a return after decorating.

Care in the details

Understand the work. Feel comfortable with the next step.

Arrange radiator removal and refitting around the other trades. Tell us about plastering dates, floor changes and any pipework you want concealed.

The appointment or quotation should identify the agreed work, access arrangements and any limitations. If the engineer finds something outside that scope, we explain the options and costs before additional work goes ahead.

From your first enquiry

What happens next.

A practical guide to the process, with details agreed for your property.

01

Describe the comfort problem

Tell us which rooms, radiators or controls are affected.

02

Review the options

We discuss diagnosis, adjustments, repair or replacement as appropriate.

03

Agree fittings and access

Confirm dimensions, supplied products and work around other trades.

04

Complete and explain

The engineer checks the agreed work and talks through the result.

A smoother appointment

A little preparation goes a long way.

Take care with radiator choice

A radiator should suit the room’s heating needs as well as its appearance. Send the manufacturer’s output and dimensions if you plan to supply it.

Plan around decorating

Removal and refitting may be separate visits. Confirm the timing before plastering, painting or new flooring starts.

Tell us about the controls

Mention smart controls, multiple zones, separate hot-water settings or previous alterations. A heating symptom can start away from the affected radiator.

Heating & radiators FAQs

Useful details before you decide. If your question is more specific, our team is happy to help.

Can you replace one radiator?

Yes. We can quote for a single replacement or a wider upgrade, including any valve and pipework changes needed.

Do cold radiators always need a power flush?

No. Air, valves, controls, balancing or circulation can all affect performance. We investigate before recommending system cleaning.

Can I supply my own radiators?

Yes, subject to suitability. Please provide the sizes, outputs and connection details before we agree the installation.

Can you install a towel radiator?

Yes, subject to the installation details and suitability. Tell us the location, dimensions, connection positions and whether the unit is water-heated or includes an electrical element.

Will a larger radiator always fix a cold room?

Not necessarily. Poor circulation, controls or other factors can limit performance. We assess what is causing the issue before recommending a change.

Do you repair zone valves and circulation problems?

We welcome those enquiries. Describe which heating or hot-water zones are affected so we can arrange an appropriate investigation.

Can you reuse my existing radiator valves?

It depends on their condition and compatibility. The quote should identify whether they will be retained or replaced.
